Love requires understanding. And in order to understand our lover and
ourselves―we must have the ability to look deeply--with a still mind.
Still
Sensing Workshops provide an opportunity for participants to discover
more subtle
and unifying levels of quiet energy within themselves and to learn how
to commingle on
those levels with their partner. Participants will learn how to
integrate the use of their senses, with silence.
After all, we,
as human beings,
are part of nature. In Still Sensing
Workshops we will be exploring
deeper levels of our own nature. We will
discover that―just as we see more of
nature when we are quiet―we
see more of our own nature when we allow
ourselves to become more still―more aware.
This is really the basis of fulfilling relationships. The
important thing is the quality of our heart, of our attentiveness. Do
we use it for acceptance or for negation?
To discover
more inner
quiet, participants of Still Sensing Workshops explore some very
simple, fundamental things: the way we breathe, the way we sit
and
lie down, the ways we process our emotions in our body, the manner in
which we give and receive--for instance--a slice of orange, the way in
which we touch.
In
these
explorations we are not seeking a “correct” breathing or touching or
feeling. We are quite
simply exploring and discovering the nature of breathing,
touching and feeling--by becoming more quiet and aware. We find that
the art of being lies in the quality of our acts. It is what we
do every day, in the simplest acts, that counts.
We will be able to directly
experience what are our habits and conditioning in these simple acts.
And if we become free of our habits and conditioning―what
do we discover?
A task such as washing the dishes or cooking dinner is as important,
and requires the same quality of attention as creating art, or making
love.
Although we
will discuss the
principles of Polynesian Passion, as discussed in the books, the workshops
themselves are not essentially sexual. Rather,
they are
concerned with exploring
the foundations of awareness and authentic relationship.
Participants remain clothed, and
any touching done by participants is non-sexual. Of
course couples will
want to apply in the privacy of their own bedrooms what
they have discovered in the group sessions
What is really happening when we
touch someone? Suppose we are asked to
explore the contours of a
fellow participant’s head with our hands as they are lying
on their back? Are we performing? Are we
trying to stimulate him or her in order to create
some sort of seductive
influence? Or are we
simply exploring our fellow participant’s head
in a way that has no goal in mind?
If we are not attempting to seduce or
stimulate, we may find that we can really discover something
authentic about the person we are working with: the expressions that form in that
person’s lips, or eyes. We
may find that if we have no goal in mind we begin to see who is really there. And that
attitude of exploration and discovery can be then easily applied to our
relationship with our love
in our own private moments together.
The sighs
of our partner, the smile or cloud of sadness that momentarily shadows
the
face, the boldness or
reticence of the gaze, all can be overlooked
if we are merely attempting to seduce, and all these
subtle physical indications help us to know not just
the outer appearance, but also the inner energy, the affections, the
spirit of our partner. All of these use little to comprehend much.
As
participants in Still Sensing
Workshops, we are not mere observers, but creatures who,
sensitive to the tone of whom we are working with, are able to share in
it as a path that leads us to deeper inner stillness.
Such study has no end, and we are all our own authority.
Still Sensing Workshops are an invitation to re-examine
the way we touch, breathe, feel and love. They are an invitation
to discover what is really genuine in our loving and what is there just
from our cultural and psychological conditioning,
our habits, and the patterns of our addictions.
The explorations in these workshops are not merely
mental. We will be exploring and discovering with our hearts, our
relationships, our breath, our fingers, our entire body--a more quiet
and sensitive way of relation to ourselves and all others.
We will consider in great depth the areas we must
contemplate in order to live truly nourishng and regenerative
relationships.
Having discovered inner stillness, we will become sensitive
to how our inner energy circulates through our being--a valuable lesson
that we can apply when we are alone with our lover--and in all our
daily activities.
Still Sensing Workshops will be held in California, Polynesia,
Europe and Japan.
More information on Still Sensing Workshops will be available
